Champagne Bollinger was established in 1829 by Jacques Bollinger and to this day is still family owned. Benefitting from ownership of 166 hectares of vineyards in the finest Premier and Grand Champagne, Bollinger wines are defined as much by the vines the grapes come from, as by the blending process, or the House’s century old barrels in which the wines mature. Bollinger is a true Champagne icon and it’s clear to see why.

Vieilles Vignes Françaises 2009 is a taste of Champagne in bygone days: a very small production from miraculously preserved and un-grafted vines, grown the traditional way, from two walled Bollinger plots classified as Grands Crus: Chaudes Terres, and Clos St Jacques. These two plots were grown the traditional way, following the propagation method - provignage. This method creates an independent plant in its own right. Worked by hand and even sometimes with the help of a cart-horse. Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises is a symbol of a bygone era: a reminiscent, extraordinary legacy.

Tasting Note:
Honey and spiced bread; notes of candied citrus, quince, dried exotic fruits (mango, papaya) and ginger. The palate is both dense and subtle with spicy notes evoking ginger, pepper or vanilla. A great wine remarkable for its wonderful balance and consistency in the mouth.
